Promising Young Woman follows Cassie Thomas (Carey Mulligan), a 30-year-old medical school dropout traumatized by the rape and suicide of her best friend, Nina Fisher. By night, Cassie pretends to be heavily intoxicated at bars to trap predatory men who try to take advantage of her.
